Yet another girl, Arpita this time, bites the Idol dust

It seems difficult for girls to make it to the top in the current season of Indian Idol. Arpita Khan is the latest to be eliminated thus leaving behind only two girls in the competition. A source says, “Week after week many good singers are getting out of the show due to lack of public votes. Nineteen-year-old Arpita from Kolkata had many hopes from this show, but this week she was in the bottom two along with Swaroop Khan. Both are fine singers but finally Arpita had to leave the stage. This week’s theme was R D Burman and Asha Bhosle along with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy was present on the sets as celebrity judge. All contestants paid their tribute to the legendary Burman by singing his few famous numbers. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy did a special performance and Ashaji’s act was like an icing on the cake. It was really one of the best episodes of this season.” Arpita has been learning music since her childhood and had also lent her voice for some Bengali movies before appearing on the show. She was one of the top contenders for the title.
