MUMBAI:
The web series Farzi has been the talk of the town ever since the show was in the making. There was a huge buzz as this is to be Shahid Kapoor's digital Debut, and especially because it was a show by Raj and DK. Fans loved what they had to offer with their successful web series ‘The Family Man’.
The show has an amazing bunch of talented people like Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Rashi Khanna, Kavya Thapar, Kay Kay Menon, Amol Palekar, Regina Cassandra, and some others. Finally, the series has hit the digital platform Amazon Prime Video. Here is the complete review of the show.
Talking about the premise of the web series, we had gotten some glimpses from the trailer itself that Sunny- played by Shahid Kapoor, is eagerly looking forward to overcoming his financial crisis by producing fake currencies, which is more authentic than the original. Initially, he starts this to save his uncle Nanu- played by Amol Palekar, but later it becomes a habit. What comes during his journey will definitely surprise him and the audience as well.
Talking about the screenplay of the web series, it looks a bit stretched at times, but at some points it keeps you engaged in different ways. The execution of Raj and DK will surprise you; you must have seen their movies and web series. Talking about the direction, it will undoubtedly be a treat to see the cinematography and camera work, and the locations covered are beautiful.
Talking about performances, indeed, Shahid Kapoor makes a noticeable mark in his digital debut. We are going to see the actor in a never-before-seen avatar in this web series. On the other hand, the surprise package is actor Bhuvan, who plays the character of Firoz, who is the buddy of Sunny. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has got some good one liners which will definitely make you laugh. Kay Kay Menon is brilliant as always, but on the other hand, Kavya Thapar, Amol Palekar, and Regina Cassandra are seen very less in the web series, but every actor is brilliant on their part.
Talking about the positive points of the web series, it definitely has to be the storyline which will definitely keep you hooked and booked till the last scene. There are many comedy punchlines given by the actor Vijay Sethupathi, and the conversations between Vijay Sethupathi and Zakir Hussain will definitely make you laugh every time. Rashi Khanna is another high point of the web series, as she is seen as one of the strong characters in the web series. There are various comedy one-liners arising during intense situations, which is the speciality of the film maker Raj and DK. Also, for all ‘The Family Man’ fans, there is a surprise for you in the web series.
After seeing glimpses of positive points, let us look at the negative point - which has to be the screenplay. It looks a little stretched in between at various times. The show seems dull and the interest level goes down. But again, the strong performances come to the show’s rescue. There could have also been less abusive language used in many scenes, which looks a little forceful.
Well having said all these points, Shahid Kapoor's digital debut on Amazon Prime Video will keep you engaged, and this one can be your choice over the weekend.
Team TellyChakkar goes with 3.5/5 for Farzi.
