MUMBAI : Samridh Bawa, who is a very popular name in the TV industry, will next be seen in the web series Kode Lag Gaye Ji. The web series also stars Sakshi Mago in the lead role, and it is directed by Ashrit Wadhwa.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Samridh and spoke to him about the web series, his experience of working with Ashrit Wadhwa, and more...
Tell us something about your role in Kode Lag Gaye Ji.
My character's name is Abhi and it’s basically the series is a rom-com. The story is about two young people who commit a mistake and how they deal with it. It’s a very common mistake that youth do while dating. Well, dating is not a mistake, but then they get physical and fir 2 se teen hojate hai. As they are scared to tell their parents they elope and it’s about their journey and how they come to Manali and things happen to them. It’s going to be funny and a few serious things as well. The seriousness is less as it’s a rom-com. It’s cute and kind of a web series that you can relax and watch.
How was your experience of working with Ashrit Wadhwa?
He is a lovely guy. We shot for the web series around one and half years ago, and it’s a story based during the lockdown. When we started shooting he was my director, but now he is my close friend. I am connected to Manali for some reason; I have visited there five times. So, before the shoot, I was missing Manali a lot and I was telling my sister and brother-in-law that let’s do a trip to Manali. Suddenly, I get a call from Ashrit that he wants to meet, and I was in Delhi at that time and even he was in Delhi. So, when we met for the first time it was a very formal meeting. I asked him for one reason why I should do this series, and he told me just think you are coming for a vacation with me. So, I laughed and asked where, and he said Manali, and at that time only I decided to do it. Ashrit is very good and he is a focused director. We had a schedule of 13-14 days, and at the start, we were quite formal with each other, but we gelled up and we realized that our taste matches a lot in everything, especially in food. And now, I meet Ashrit four times a week.
In a rom-com, the chemistry between the leads is very important, so how easy or difficult was it to get the chemistry right with Sakshi?
The energy there was very light and happy, and the people around were happy souls, so there was no issue from the first day. We also have a small intimate scene, and even that we did laughing with the team. So, there was no issue with Sakshi. Also, if there was one person who was very lively on the sets, it was Sakshi. Even after the cut she would play music and dance with the crew and chill. We all had great energy, but Sakshi had taken the responsibility to keep the energy high.
Kode Lag Gaye Ji will premiere on MX Player on 6th March 2023.
