MUMBAI: Saqib Pandor is known for directing mini-series like Gutur Gu and Gupt Gyaan. The former started streaming on Amazon mini TV a few days ago, and it is produced by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Saqib and spoke to him about the series, the experience of teaming up with Guneet Monga, and more…
Is Gutur Gu connected with Gupt Gyaan?
Technically, Gutur Gu is a spin-off of Gupt Gyan. When Gupt Gyam was released last year, I got a very good reception from the audience. People started texting me that they want to Anuj and Ritu’s love story; they want to know more about it. So, as I got so many messages I thought that let’s think about it.
You have teamed up with an Oscar-winning producer, so while discussing ideas with her is there a nervousness that how she would react?
I consider myself very lucky and fortunate to team up with Guneet Monga and Sikhya. Without them, both projects wouldn’t have been possible. The kind of belief they have in young writers and directors is commendable, and that is the environment any directors want to live in and make and tell stories. So, I was really fortunate to have a team like Sikhya (Entertainment). It also uplifted the project to another level.
You have directed mini-series and short films earlier. So, any plans of working on a full-fledged movie?
I have a couple of plans, there’s one more young adult story I want to make, it’s a series. Then there’s one feature film and it’s pure drama and I am really passionate about it, but let’s see when it happens.
