I don't think the audience can relate to me playing a flirtatious or overtly romantic person: Fahad Ali

Fahad Ali
Fahad Ali, the angry young man of television, who is currently seen in The Buddy Project Season 2 (Sunshine Productions) on Channel [V], is enjoying his smooth life at the moment. The 24 year old actor has a chocolate boy face with such an intense look that you are left drooling over him. He admires Shah Rukh Khan more as a person than as an actor and is an ardent fan of Al Pacino and Leonardo DiCaprio. In a freewheeling chat with Tellychakkar.com, Fahad opens up on his show, his buddy gang, his dream roles and a lot more. Excerpts: So all good with the latest season of The Buddy Project? (pauses) Well, it is going really good; it is smooth and calm at the moment. With so many more characters involved in the show, currently, we do not shoot as much as we shot in the first season. So, with no more hectic schedules, it’s kind of relaxing. With a few new characters introduced in your show, do you feel threatened as an actor who has been on the show from the very beginning? Why should I feel threatened? I am there in every episode of the show (laughs)! Seriously, there is nothing like that; every character has its own importance. Personally, I have no such problems. How is Buddy Project 2 different in terms of your character and performance from the first season? KD has become much more flexible now. Earlier, it was problems with his father that kept him aloof of all the fun but now he is more into his gang and for a change, smiles often. There is no stone faced expression anymore and he has grown as a person. Also in terms of his relation with Kiya (Bharti Kumar), there has seen a maturity and growth. So how similar and different is KD from Fahad? (Gives a thought) KD is a serious person who has loads of tension in his mind while Fahad is a chilled out guy who enjoys his life. As for similarities, both take time to open up. Who are you friends from the show? With the show now divided into gangs, I tend up spending most of my time with Bharti and Nikhil (Piddi).Hence, we are quite good friends. Even Manav Sir (Gohil) is fun to be around even though we aren’t shooting much these days together. Do you have a buddy gang in personal life? I do not have a gang of sorts. I actually have very few friends who I am close to. My best friend Siddharth has been with me from the first standard. We often meet and watch movies or have dinner together. Since I am not a party kind of a person, I enjoy with my own set of close friends. What do you do in your free time? Any hobbies? I like watching films and listening to music. I am also into sketching. With such a cute face, why do you end up doing only serious roles? (giggles) I am already doing more romantic scenes. I do not think the audience can relate to me playing a flirtatious or overtly romantic person. I like playing intense roles which have many layers; this gives me a better chance to perform as an actor. What are your future plans? I have always maintained that I want to do movies. If a good script comes up, I am all game for it. On TV, I am currently committed to Buddy Project, it’s like my baby. Since the first shot of the show was mine, you can understand the attachment I have with it. Any plans of doing a reality show? If offered, I would definitely love to do a dance-based show like Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa and Nach Baliye or adventure shows like Fear Factor. I would not be comfortable showing my personal life on camera in shows like Bigg Boss. Your favourite stars? I am a fan of Al Pacino and Leonardo DiCaprio while in Bollywood, I admire Shahrukh Khan a lot, not just as an actor but more so as a person. He is a huge inspiration to me. Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan are also great. Though they are star kids, they work very hard on their roles. Any dream roles that you would want to essay? Sometimes, I would love to play autobiographies and even doing movies like Barfi! And Guzaarish would be a challenge. And finally, are you dating some one? No yaar… I would like to have a simple and beautiful girl, but at the end of it, it will be mummy ki marzi (laughs).
