It has left a vacuum in my life

A page from the personal diary of Gunjan Walia It indeed feels a little weird when you quit a daily soap after being a part of it for one and half years. The departure leaves a vacuum in your life and you start missing the daily schedule and call time. You miss chatting with your colleagues and the fun you have shooting with them. Yesterday was the last day of my shoot and I tried to capture all the beautiful memories from the show. The unit members and all my co-artists became an extended family to me. It was a mixed feeling as quitting the show meant a little time off for yourself and it also meant that you may not be able to see your team again. That I have quit has yet to sink in as an actor gets used to the arc lights and daily shoots. During the show we actors had to undergo immense pressure due to pressing deadlines. We kept shooting round the clock and thus hardly got time to sit, relax and think. But we had whale of a time at meal times. We used to chat, gossip and talk about everything under the sun. It was a great unit and they were like family to me. It’s just been a day that I exited the show and I have already started receiving calls from my co-actors and unit members saying that they are missing me. Betiyann is a multi-lingual set. You will find actors hailing from all the major regions of the country. I used to teach Punjabi to my co-actor and on-screen sister Kshiti Jog and in the bargain she used to teach me Marathi. The entire unit has been very hospitable to me. After I replaced Twinkle Bajpai, they welcomed me with open arms. Replacing someone is like becoming a stepmother or a second wife. Twinkle and I have contributed equally as we have completed one and half years on the show. But the entire unit has helped me to establish myself on the show. They all have been as a support system during my trying times. They had supported me like a family and stood by me during my thick and thin. I love them all and will miss them badly. Out of all I will miss Saraswati (Kshiti Jog) the most as she was like a real sister to me guiding me all the while. Well now that I am free I am planning to join a dance class. I would also learn to drive and I am all set to hit the gym to keep myself fit. After Betiyann, I am trying to do something different now. I am meeting different people and auditions are on but as of now I am just having a blast.
