After a gap of 37 years since the release of Shakti Samanta’s Amanush in 1974 and Anand Ashram in 1976 when two Bengali stars Uttam Kumar and Sharmila Tagore adorned the Hindi cinema screen, Kahaani fame Parambrata Chatterjee and Hate Story fame Paoli Dam have been cast in a Hindi film Yara Sili Sili.
Though it is rare that a Hindi film is made with two Bengali actors in the lead, director Subhash Sehgal reasons that they are both excellent actors. Besides that, they suit the roles in his film. And to top it all, above all, the characters they play are that of Bengalis.
When we spoke to Sehgal, he said that the film spans over two nights and it is about two people traveling in a train.
Sehgal best known for editing masterpieces like Gulzar’s Ijaazat and Ek Chadar Maili Si, had earlier directed Sunny Deol and Mahima Chaudhry in Pyaar Koi Khel Nahin in 1999.
