MUMBAI: Actor Vinayakan from the film "Jailer" was detained on Tuesday, according to officials, for reportedly causing a disturbance at a police station in this city while drunk. When the actor was called by the police to the Ernakulam Town North police station in the evening following an argument with his wife at his apartment, the actor allegedly raised a commotion.

A senior police officer claimed that he was detained for causing trouble at the police station. The actor was then sent to a neighboring hospital for the mandatory physical, according to the officer. Following proper protocol, the police later released him on bail. After receiving medical attention and leaving the hospital with the police, Vinayakan told the reporters that he had no idea why he had been detained.
The actor responded when questioned about the cause of his arrest, "I came to file a complaint. Please ask the police why I was brought here (hospital)."
The actor was detained for raising a disturbance at the police station while drunk, according to a police official who was following him to the hospital and spoke to the media. The officer added that Vinayakan had contacted the police at his flat earlier in the day to address some problems with his wife.
