Soon, a new series is about to be launched on the platform – Hack Crimes Online. The series is a crime thriller which is based on a novel by one of India's most respected cyber-crime investigators, Mr. Amit Dubey. The series features Vipul Gupta and Riddhi Kumar and is directed by Parmeet Sethi.
Talking about Riddhi Kumar, the audience has been appreciating her performance in the series a lot.
Tellychakkar got in touch with the actress Riddhi Kumar who opened up about her character in the series, the USP of the series and much more.
Tell us about your character in the series?
My Character name is Shakti and just like her name, she is very powerful, dynamic and determined about her purpose. She comes from a very humble background and did not have the kind of opportunities that people around her have had. Therefore, she feels very deprived of certain things which gives rise to a rebellion in her. She is outspoken, aggressive, and authentic more than anything. So in her journey, after meeting Asutosh, she basically finds that balance in her life because she never had a mentor or someone to guide her. She then finds her purpose in life which is to be an ethical hacker.
What made you say 'yes' to the character?
Initially I was very excited. I have worked in different shows before and I’ve always tried to pick these really unique characters that are very different from what is normal, my socio-economic background, somebody from the kind of upbringing that I’ve had and playing those characters gives me immense pleasure. Shakti was such a character. She is so unique and intelligent that it made me interested in being a part of it. After auditioning I came to know that the director is Parmeet Sethi and I really enjoy watching Badmaash Company and think that the movie was ahead of its time. When we got on call, I really liked the way he spoke and found him to be such a mutually respectable man. Lastly, working with Friday Filmworks has definitely been on my list and I got to tick that off. I’m really happy that I got it.
What according to you is the USP of the series?
It’s hacking. I personally haven’t seen a lot of shows or movies on hacking or online crimes that happen. We see a lot of shows about crime, murder, drug abuse and terrorism but the thing about this show is that it takes every single type of crime and every single age group that goes through it, trying to show it in a technological aspect, through hacking. It shows how to solve these crimes through hacking. So it’s literally hackers hacking the hackers.
Tell us your upcoming projects?
I finished working on a project with Adarsh Gaurav, directed by Reema Kagti under Excel productions and the second project which I’m still working on is a multi-lingual South project, directed by Maruthi sir opposite Prabhas.
