Rohit Shetty got in touch with a media outlet where he revealed some interesting insights when talking about challenges to make cop universe movies, making family oriented movies and much more.
Started with Singham and now Indian Police Force, how challenging is it to bring a new dimension into the cop genre everytime?
I think it’s difficult to make a new movie after a release for any director. For me, it’s more difficult to tell the same story or move on with the same character. It’s a bit difficult but I’m used to it now. It’s also about how to take the characters forward in the next film of the universe. That becomes a task.
Was it a conscious decision to make a series that is family oriented content?
I take it as a responsibility. I have a set audience, which consists more of kids. It’s a family audience so it’s a responsibility. I’m not saying what others are doing is wrong but I never feel that that’s the need for my films or scripts so I never get into that zone at all.
You make films which warrant a lot of conviction as a director. Have there been instances when you have a doubt? If that happens, who do you approach to discuss and find clarity?
With my team obviously, we’ve been working together for so long. We have a policy in our office that my ADs can come up and tell me if something’s not working or any of my technicians for that matter. It may look like it, that what I’m showing is just my conviction but it’s not like that. There’s always a discussion and even if the junior of my AD says that it’s not working, we think about it. If he is right, we go with his conviction. So it’s not always me. It's the conviction of the whole team.
