MUMBAI: Former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Akaay. The couple announced on their social media handles, expressing their happiness and requesting privacy.
In a post on Instagram, Virat Kohli wrote, "With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika's little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka."
The couple had kept the news of Anushka's pregnancy under wraps. Unlike their first child, Vamika, whose arrival was announced with much fanfare, Virat and Anushka chose to wait before sharing the news of their second child.
Earlier, cricketer AB de Villiers had mistakenly shared that Virat and Anushka were expecting their second baby. However, he later clarified that it was false information.
Virat Kohli recently withdrew from the Test series against England, leading to speculation about Anushka's pregnancy. The couple welcomed their daughter Vamika in January 2021.
Anushka Sharma, who last appeared in the film 'Zero' in 2018, will next be seen in the biopic 'Chakda Xpress', based on cricketer Jhulan Goswami's life.
Virat and Anushka got married in 2017 after dating for several years, and their family has now grown with the arrival of their baby boy, Akaay.
