MUMBAI: In a remarkable turn of events, actor Ajay Devgn has emerged as the highest-paid actor in India, earning a whopping Rs 4.5 crore per minute for his cameo appearance in the film RRR. This incredible feat has not been achieved by the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Vijay, Prabhas, or Rajinikanth, who are considered the top earners in the industry.
The trend of skyrocketing remuneration for Indian actors started roughly three decades ago when the first actor breached the Rs 1-crore mark for a film. Since then, the fees charged by superstars have increased exponentially, with some demanding over Rs 100 crore per film. However, Ajay Devgn's fees of Rs 4.5 crore per minute is unprecedented, even among the highest-earning actors.

While actors like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, and Vijay have earned in excess of Rs 100 crore per film, their per-minute earnings pale in comparison to Ajay Devgn's staggering fee. This significant milestone underscores Ajay Devgn's immense popularity and market value in the film industry.
Ajay Devgn's cameo in RRR, alongside Shriya Saran, was part of a flashback scene in the film. The actor justified his hefty fee by citing the film's massive scale and his workload. Despite his cameo role, Ajay Devgn's earnings from RRR are a testament to his star power and box office draw.
Apart from RRR, Ajay Devgn has several other projects lined up, including the highly anticipated film Singham Again, where he will reprise his iconic role of supercop Bajirao Singham. The film, part of Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe, boasts a star-studded cast and is set to release on August 15. Additionally, Ajay will be seen in the psychological thriller Shaitaan, alongside Jyotika and R Madhavan, scheduled to hit theaters on March 8. He also has the sports biopic Maidaan in the pipeline, showcasing the actor's diverse range and appeal to audiences.
