MUMBAI : Following Animal's enormous success, fans of Ranbir Kapoor are excitedly awaiting Animal Park, the film's sequel. It appears that they will have to wait a little while longer to see the film, though. The director of Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, recently gave an exciting update on the movie's sequel at an award ceremony in Mumbai, but he also disclosed that production won't start until 2026.
“This is going to be bigger and wilder than Animal,” Vanga stated, referencing the popular news portal quote, and continued, “The shooting of the film will begin by 2026.”
It was previously revealed by the popular news portal that Vicky Kaushal would probably be involved in the follow-up to their hugely successful film Animal Park. Vicky Kaushal is allegedly being considered for an unfavorable part in Animal Park. Although there hasn't been any formal confirmation as of yet, Vicky and Ranbir's on-screen confrontation could be intriguing to see. Bobby Deol portrayed the antagonist in the film's first segment.
Released on December 1, 2023, Animal revolved around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film showed Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggled to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). The film also starred Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri in key roles.
Despite being a global box office hit that brought in over Rs 900 crore, many questioned Animal's lack of sexism. Social media users had mixed opinions on the movie, with many criticizing the director for how he portrayed Vijay.
Rashmika Mandanna recently responded appropriately to people who labeled Animal as "misogynistic." Animal, according to her, is "just about a character" who is "messed in the head." Despite everything, she said, people still found the movie to be enjoyable, describing it as "raw, real, and correct."
“He’s messed in the head and will go to any lengths for his father, that was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. Nobody can do anything about it, it’s his story. If you want films to be raw, real and correct, Animal is that. After watching it, to say it’s misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it,” Rashmika stated on Neha Dhupia’s show.
