MUMBAI : Calling her character extremely dark, and a “rudra-roop of Maninee”, actress Maninee De says that she loves the feedback she is getting for her role in Dalchini. Produced by Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta, the show has been receiving a lot of love from the fans.

“I believe the show's authenticity and relatable characters are what resonate with the audience the most. From my audience, from my friends, I get a lot of feedback. Being the kind of person I am, it's completely opposite to who I portray, and I think that is my blessing as an actor. The kind of performer that I am, I can become anybody special, the character on-screen, and I can completely dissociate from my personality, which is many. Also, I think, because I've portrayed such different characters, my arc has been very versatile,” she says.

She adds, “The kind of lines that I speak are not something that I have done before. The show has added to my career graph in popularity. Definitely, people have seen a very rudra roop of Maninee. I have portrayed a lot of negative characters, but this was a notch above many others, and it was clearly a very, very dark character, and it was tough on my psyche. and Honest to God, popularity has soared. I've always had the gift of popularity, which God has given me, but definitely people have really appreciated my work. And after getting the award for Chahiti Khalnaika, I feel there is a bigger responsibility on my shoulders to perform even better now. And because the Dangal audience likes it a little louder, which is not my school of acting, I've had to really push my boundaries.”

The show is very popular on social media and the internet too, she says, adding, “The kind of feedback that we get is incredible. The hate mail that I've got has been my biggest award, which means that I'm doing a good job. I don't take anything personally. I'm not one of those actors. I do my job and I let the audience decide. So, yes, I'm very, very thankful and in complete gratitude for the fame and popularity that it has given me.”

Dalchini is shot in Chandigarh. Talking about the same, she says, “My set is in Chandigarh. Of course. I miss Mumbai. Mumbai is my city. I mean, it's my domicile. So, I definitely miss the vibe of Mumbai, Chandigarh. The peace, the greenery, the sense of openness expands the people. The vibe here is very different, and it's very fun. So, I think I've really enjoyed being here.”
