MUMBAI: Ranbir Kapoor's elder sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni spoke about her late father, Rishi Kapoor. The superstar passed away back in 2020 during the COVID-19-induced lockdown. The cause of his death was due to leukemia. Riddhima was in Delhi, but got special permission to come to Mumbai for the funeral.
During an interview with Galatta Plus India, she revealed that Rishi had tried calling her two days before he got hospitalized and she regrets that she missed the call. “He tried to call me two days before this happened. He gave me a missed call, I still have it on my phone. That was his last missed call to me and I thought… I wish I had taken that. After that, he couldn’t really respond or talk because he was in the hospital and I still have that missed call saved. I took a screenshot and I saved it. Because that was the last time he called me to actually talk to me. I called him after that but he couldn’t speak,” she said.
The Kapoor family got badly trolled after Rishi's death. The fans wondered why they did not display sorrow. Riddhima called the backlash the 'most challenging period'. She said that no one could understand their grief and difficulties in challenging times.
Rishi passed away on April 30, 2020. His family members could only be at the funeral because of the lockdown. On The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ranbir remembered how he got beaten by his dad once as he entered the temple area with slippers. The late actor was religious and remembered the 'Animal' star.
