MUMBAI : Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez made a comeback to the Cannes Film Festival this year, she disclosed there how Bollywood became more "age-inclusive." She revealed that upon entering the profession, she was requested to hide and lie about her age and that she was additionally advised to get plastic surgery done.
In an interview with Brut, Jacqueline disclosed that in her early days in Bollywood, she was requested to have a nose job done.
"It was crazy, because I came here loving my nose, and not ever thinking about doing anything to it," she shared.
She also mentioned that an industry professional had counseled her to concentrate only on "looking good".
"Very early on in my career, I was at the gym and I was explaining to this actor that I have to go to multiple classes and undergo diction training and such, and he was like, 'Just focus on looking good and you'll be fine'," She revealed.
"I think that was one of the worst pieces of advice I ever got as someone who was trying to make it into the film industry," she added
Jacqueline remembered that once when she told an actor that she was going to turn thirty, he too had urged her to hide her age. She explained that the concerned party had requested that she hide her age on her passport because, beyond a certain age, actors were not cast in films.
Having said that, Jacqueline expressed her happiness at the way times have evolved and that films with actors and actresses of all ages are now being produced specifically for them and including them in major roles. After making her Bollywood debut in 2009 with the movie Aladin, Jacqueline has now been in the entertainment industry for 15 years.
