Inside Out 2 REVIEW: Disney Pixar's eagerly awaited sequel is a wild ride of side-splitting laughs and teary-eyed emotions

It’s a job well done by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, the writers of the movie and also Kelsey Mann, who didn’t just direct the movie but also co-wrote it.

MUMBAI: Animated movies are not limited to kids and Disney Pixar movies broke the stereotype long ago. While there are many animated movies which are loved by the audience consisting of both kids and adults, there was one that struck the chords perfectly - Inside Out, a movie with a perfect concept of emotions personified and expressed in the most understandable and entertaining way.

Inside Out released in 2015 and now, in 2024, after almost a decade, the makers are here with the most entertaining and wild rollercoaster ride that will leave you feeling all the emotions in you.

The plot is about how Joy, Anger, Disgust, Sadness and Fear are having a smooth run but suddenly there comes Anxiety and some more never-seen-before emotions that stir up some trouble. It's a story that's entertaining and educational for kids and adults as it gives a much-required perspective towards understanding growth, evolution, and progress of ourselves and our emotions as well.

It’s a job well done by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, the writers of the movie and also Kelsey Mann, who didn’t just direct the movie but also co-wrote it. These weren’t just characters but emotions brought to life by Amy Poehler (voice of Joy), Maya Hawke (Voice of Anxiety), Kensington Tallman (voice of Riley), Liza Lapira (voice of Disgust), Tony Hale (voice of Fear), Lewis Black (voice of Anger), Phyllis Smith (voice of Sadness), Ayo Edebiri (voice of Envy), Lilimar (voice of Valentina), Grace Lu (voice of Grace), Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green (voice of Bree), Adèle Exarchopoulos (voice of Ennui), Paul Walter Hauser (voice of Embarrassment), Yvette Nicole Brown (Coach Roberts), and many many more.

The movie gives life lessons in a very subtle and effective yet entertaining way. The movie is Riley’s emotions but it all connects with everyone in the audience. Be it the beautiful work of animation, be it the dialogues, or be it the behaviour of and the research that went into the creative execution of the emotions – It is all up to the mark except for times when you’ll feel why a certain emotion is acting the opposite way. Hidden somewhere in the movie might be some clues about the third part of the movie.

Surely this is a fun watch for the family while having almost nothing to improve upon.
