MUMBAI: Saawariya and Om Shanti Om, respectively, marked the beginning of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's respective careers. They were soon put against one another in a number of films, including Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, and Tamasha, where their endearing chemistry won them over. After dating for a few years, Deepika and Ranbir also broke up because of the latter's infidelity.
We recently came onto an old clip of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor from 2015, while they were promoting their movie Tamasha. Ranbir spoke openly about Deepika's personality in the video, revealing that she takes jabs and cheap jabs quite well.
Ranbir said, “Deepika ke andar jo hai ek bahut badi cheap girl basi hui hai. You can talk very naughty with her, you can get cheap with her, and she responds very well. You can get cheeky with her and she will respond with more cheekiness. Agar aap usko ungali karoge na, wo chhodegi nahi, wo aur ungali karegi.”
He also added that Deepika is not the type of girl who gets upset over criticism of her. Rather, she understands how to return it with brutality. Ranbir further revealed that Imtiaz Ali had previously informed him that Deepika would light up whenever someone spoke to her in an inconsiderate way.
He added, “She is that kind of girl ki aap use chidaoge, wo sulk nahi karegi, wo aapko wapis degi. Imtiaz Sir said he also noticed this while shooting Love Aaj Kal. Intially, he used to be shy and bas direction deta tha. But when he used to talk cheaply to her, her eyes would lit up. She responds to cheapness very well. So the next time you see her, road pe bhi kahi guzar rahi hai, to bade cheap tareeke se bulana, 'Ae Padukone'”
Deepika initially appeared uneasy in the video, but eventually she began to participate. She smiled and made silly faces as Ranbir revealed the startling information. When Deepika later asked Ranbir how he would speak to her on the cheap, he replied that he couldn't do it in front of the camera. He said, “I can't be in front of the camera. Can't even say that in front of the camera. Vaise to I can be cheap with her kyunki cheapness bhara hua hai iske andar, cheapness ki dukaan hai ye.”
