MUMBAI: Atlee is co-writer and director of the Hindi action-thriller movie Jawan. Under the banner of Red Chilies Entertainment, Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma produced the movie. Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood, plays a father and a son in the movie who work together to right the wrongs in society. The supporting roles in the movie are Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, and Sanya Malhotra. On September 7, 2023, Janmashtami, the film was released in cinemas. Critics have given the film favorable reviews, praising the musical soundtrack, action scenes, screenplay, and performances of the actors. It became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023, the second-highest-grossing Hindi film, and the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film with a total revenue of nearly ₹1,148.32 crore (US$140 million). At the 69th Filmfare Awards, the film received 14 nominations which included Best Film and Best Director.

The film is scheduled to be screened in Japan after smashing box office records in India. fourteen months have passed since September 2023, when it was first released. Twin Studios is going to distribute the film's rights. November 29, 2024, is when the movie is scheduled to premiere in Japan. The official trailer including Japanese subtitles and the poster announcing the release date were both made available by the film's creators.

In 2023, Jawan emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film. is the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film at the worldwide box office in India, with 1150 crores in total revenue and 400 crores abroad.
