MUMBAI: At the age of 96, Joan Benedict Steiger, the multifaceted actress known for her iconic parts in beloved television shows like General Hospital, Candid Camera, and Days of Our Lives, departed from this life. Her impact in the entertainment business was solidified by her depiction of Edith Fairchild on General Hospital and her guest appearances on several other hit shows.

Approximately one month before her 97th birthday on July 21, 2024, Joan passed away on June 24, 2024. She reportedly passed away at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications following a stroke. Both colleagues and viewers will remember her for her enduring skill and her contributions to television.

Joan’s Tv and film credits include TV and film credits include The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington, Hotel, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill and Dollhouse. She recurred on soap General Hospital as the character Edith Fairchild, and also appeared in Days of Our Lives and Capitol.
