MUMBAI: Director Siddharth P Malhotra recently shared some behind-the-scenes insights about filming the Holi song 'Holi Ke Rang Ma' for his latest and most trending film 'Maharaj'. Malhotra revealed that the outdoor dance sequence was shot under extreme heat, becoming one of the "most nerve wracking days" for actors Jaideep Ahlawat, Junaid Khan, Shalini Pandey, and the background dancers. He further revealed that to help the cast cope up with the temperature, the crew designed one-of-a-kind transparent slippers that made it easier to perform on the stone floor. While talking about choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, who choreographed 'Holi Ke Rang Ma', Malhotra said she is "a strict, no nonsense task master."
Taking to Instagram, Malhotra shared, "Sharing a wonderful memory from the shoot of my film #Maharaj 📸 It was the ‘Holi celebrations’ shooting day and I remember Jaideep bearing the scorching heat without a frown on his face. We even got special transparent slippers for him at the shoot. Another fun memory from the shoot - I remember how difficult it was for Junaid and Shalini as well due to the heat while shooting the song and Vaibhavi is a strict no nonsense task master who wants everything to be perfect for Holi Ke Rang Ma! 💫💖🌈"
The film has been widely praised by the audiences as well as the critics. 'Maharaj' has achieved significant success, topping the streaming platform top 10 charts in several countries across the world. Malhotra had expressed his gratitude on social media, thanking Aditya Chopra and the YRF team for their support. He wrote, "Once again, he allowed me to tell a story that must be told, and I’m glad it’s receiving all the love in 'Maharaj’. Thank you is too small a word for the love and gratitude I’ll always have towards you, Adi, and the team at YRF."
Previously, Malhotra also lauded Junaid Khan, who made his debut with 'Maharaj'. He praised Khan's passion and dedication, noting, "They say a fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, which is truly the case for Junaid. He’s got his work ethics from his father [Aamir Khan] for sure, and acting capabilities too.” 'Maharaj' marks Malhotra’s return to directing after his last project, ‘Hichki’, which went on to be a blockbuster.
