Social media was fire with requests for a feature film about Vinesh Phogat's amazing path after her victory. A fervent user wrote, “DANGAL 2: I’m so seated. The theatre employees are scared and asking me to leave because ‘the movie isn’t announced yet, the cast hasn’t been finalized, the crew not allotted,’ but I’m simply too seated.”

Another user shared a montage of Vinesh from the Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024 Olympics, captioning it, “It’s time for Dangal 2.”

A third added, “It’s time for Aamir to make Dangal 2 with Vinesh Phogat as the main lead.”

'Dangal' holds the record for being the highest-grossing film in Bollywood, having made Rs 2000 crore globally. In the movie, Aamir Khan plays amateur wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who develops Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari into the first two female wrestlers from India to compete internationally.

Sakshi Tanwar plays the Phogat sisters' mother, Zaira Wasim, and Suhani Bhatnagar as their younger selves, and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra as the adult versions of the sisters.

Vinesh Phogat has had an incredible path to the final. In the Round of 16, she stunned the world by defeating Japan's Yui Susaki, the defending champion and number one seed. In the quarterfinals, Phogat then narrowly defeated Oksana Livach of Ukraine. Phogat's performance at the Paris Olympics has been nothing short of revolutionary, despite her current controversy.

Vinesh Phogat has not only guaranteed her spot in the Olympic final but has also raised expectations for a film that would pay homage to her incredible journey with this tremendous achievement. The nation's love for her resilience and determination is evident in the excitement surrounding ‘Dangal 2.’
