MUMBAI: National, 22nd August 2024: Get ready to experience the transformations of four young boys into men of valour and honour, as they navigate the trials of military training and personal growth in Cadets, premiering on JioCinema Premium on August 30th. From discovering those unbreakable bonds, to creating unforgettable memories laced with youthful mirth and mistakes, to experiencing the wincing pain of one’s first heartbreaks, the four young cadets, undergo a crash course in life as they also learn what it takes to be a soldier in the Indian Army.

Set in 1998 at a fictional tri-service academy, this coming-of-age series spotlights the fun, youthful and lighter moments of the more strict and disciplined army life as it delves into the intricacies of friendship, ambition, and young adulthood with equal dose of humour and drama. Starring Tanay Chheda, Tushar Shahi, Gautam Gujjar, and Chayan Chopra, the trailer dropped by the platform today transcends conventional military portrayals, offering a rich blend of drama and humour that highlights the profound bonds and individual growth of the cadets. The series is directed by Vishwajoy Mukherjee with production by Anand Tiwari.

The show delves into the lives of Manoj, Albert, Randhir, and Neeraj, who, after sixteen years of a sheltered existence, find themselves thrust into the demanding world of the Armed Forces Academy, set against the backdrop of a pre-Kargil War India. The series captures their journey of camaraderie, relentless training, and the forging of unbreakable bonds as they navigate the physical and emotional challenges that come with becoming soldiers. When privileged existence is replaced with boot camps, there are bound to be moments of rebellion, emotional outbreaks, hilarious escapades, non-stop laughter and bonhomie unlike anything witnessed before. Through rigorous discipline, these boys transform from naïve cadets into resilient men of honour, ready to face the world beyond the academy walls.

Director Vishwajoy Mukherjee opened about the inspiration behind the series, he said, “When we set out to tell this story, my goal was to explore the essence of growing up and finding one's place in the world. Rather than just focusing on the external challenges, we aimed to highlight the internal transformations and personal revelations that come with stepping into a new phase of life. We wanted to portray the true challenges of the academy while also showcasing the lighter, more human moments that accompany this journey. On set, I often reminded the cast and crew that this isn’t just a series about soldiers; it’s about young men navigating their path, learning to lead themselves as well as others. It’s a story that remains as relevant today as it was back in 1998.”

Anand Tiwari, producer of the show, shared his thoughts, saying, “Working on Cadets brought back memories of my younger years. We focused on portraying the characters' real, personal growth. Hearing the cast’s own stories highlighted how universal these experiences are. It was also inspiring to see how these cadets endure tough situations, becoming stronger with each challenge. While as civilians we may not face the same hurdles, but the sense of camaraderie is something we can all relate to. I hope it resonates with viewers as deeply as it did with all of us involved.”

Cadets delivers a powerful mix of drama and personal growth, offering a fresh young take on military life. Don't miss its premiere on JioCinema Premium on August 30th!
