Pallavi mentioned how social media is a very important tool when it comes to sharing your perspective and that is why it is very necessary to know in whose hands you are putting the medium.
Shedding light on her recent experience mentioning about a person who wanted to defame her, Pallavi mentioned, “On my last set, I was stalked by someone and it was for four to five days that he had been doing that. He visited my Instagram handle and checked out who all are my friends and who are my closest friends. He messaged my very good friend and actress Jaya Bhattacharya and another friend who is a veterinarian that ‘your friend has a boyfriend’.
At this time, they responded asking him his identity and why he was giving this information to them. He then mentioned that there is a madam who came in a Mercedes, gave him Rs. 1000 and asked him to message this to some numbers which he did. While Jaya did not pay heed, my other friend asked him a few more questions post which he asked her to meet at a particular place where he will show proofs etc. He later did not show up. So my friend shared that we should make a police complaint.”
Pallavi further shared, “With this incident, I was disappointed as I have had a peaceful working life all these years and suddenly there is someone who is doing all of this. I was not scared and I am sure there are more actors who are targeted like this for money. They think that since we are celebrities we will get scared. I feel that one should not be scared and should live the way they choose to.”
Pallavi then mentioned that she left the topic but soon after a span of 10 days, there was a mail sent to my colleagues at the Pandya Store. She revealed, “When I investigated, I found out that the number was from Bihar and was from a very poor family. When the police asked, he expressed that he had some to Mumbai to roam and happened to visit the set. He shared that he had seen me go live on Instagram and found out where I live etc. He said that he had sent a mail to some saying that I have a boyfriend and told others that I have got married and eloped. It was a juvenile case and I too have a young daughter so I had to let it go. But in the end, I would just like to say that all of this happened because of social media! So it is not a bad platform but it is important to be aware of who is using it and what is that person’s intentions.”
Well said Pallavi!
