In an interview Vivek revealed, “I was about 10 years old when my father approached me, saying we’d go on a holiday in a month, but before that, he would teach me something over the first four weeks. He asked me to keep a diary and track the inventory of perfumes he had purchased for me. He told me that whatever I managed to sell beyond the marked price would be mine.”

He added, “I went door to door on my bicycle, carrying my school bag filled with the inventory and merchandise. I made mistakes but learned a lot. I kept at it every year. By the time I was 15, I started developing my own ideas and ventured into the stock market. I began pursuing small entrepreneurial projects,” he said, adding that he founded a tech company at the age of 19 and sold it for a profit at 22. “That’s when I realised it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC and help both investors and myself earn money.”

Vivek continued, saying, “There should be no mistake in hard work from my side. We have to give 100 per cent. When we do that, the result would mostly be good: be it in films, business, philanthropy or love. Sometimes you get tired because of the workload. But when the team and people are so good, you join forces, contribute and they understand the vision.”

During the 2004 Tsunami, Vivek revealed his learnings saying, “During the 2004 tsunami, I went to ground zero and realized that if I raised my flag saying, ‘I am Vivek Oberoi, and I’m doing a project here,’ it wouldn’t work. So, I created something called Project Hope and told people this was a collective platform with no boss or owner.”
