Raviraa Bhardwaj: The tragic loss Vikas Sethi, Sidharth Shukla raises serious concerns

MUMBAI: Vikas Sethi, Siddharth Shukla and many other celebrities have unfortunately lost their lives due to cardiac arrest, despite being relatively young. Actress Raviraa Bhardwaj says that its incredibly sad to see such young lives end so quickly. “The tragic loss of young actors like Vikas Sethi and Sidharth Shukla has raised serious concerns about the increasing incidence of heart attacks in the entertainment industry, particularly among those in their prime. The pursuit of physical perfection, often seen as essential for success in this competitive field, can have detrimental effects on one's health if not approached with balance,” she says.

She adds, “Vanity, or the desire to look a certain way and maintain an ageless appearance, places immense pressure on actors. This often leads to an excessive focus on gym routines, extreme dieting, and an over-reliance on supplements, all of which can take a toll on the body over time.” She adds that one needs to be careful while using supplements. “While physical fitness is crucial for actors, too much of anything—whether it's working out, using supplements, or adhering to strict diets—can backfire. Our bodies require balance, and excess in any form can lead to harm. Overexertion, especially without proper rest and recovery, may lead to conditions that contribute to heart problems. Beyond the physical strain, mental and emotional stress is another critical factor,” she says.
The actress says that stress is another factor that is impacting out health. “The entertainment industry is inherently unstable, with work often coming in waves. For actors, the stress of constantly being in and out of employment, coupled with the need to maintain a public image, can be overwhelming. This type of pressure is unique to this profession, as actors face the dual challenge of managing their careers and physical appearances. While every profession comes with stress, actors seem to experience it more acutely because they are constantly in the public eye, unemployed between projects, and searching for the next opportunity,” she says. She adds, “Personally, I’ve learned to deal with this pressure by maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I believe that moderation is key in everything—whether it's attending parties, taking time for myself, or keeping fit. I enjoy the fun moments of life but also know the importance of "me time" to relax and recharge. Fitness is a priority, but it is about sustainability rather than extremes. It's about living a balanced, healthy life rather than chasing unrealistic ideals.” The actress says that you need to be slow and steady to win this race.

“This profession is truly a marathon, not a sprint. Many actors, in their eagerness to succeed, push themselves too hard, too fast, often to dangerous levels. But it's crucial to remember that acting, like any other profession, demands endurance. Pacing yourself and maintaining both physical and mental well-being is essential for long-term success. We shouldn't feel pressured to race to an imaginary finish line. Instead, we should strive for longevity, enjoying the journey and staying balanced along the way.”
