MUMBAI: Acclaimed television producer Binaiferr Kohli, the powerhouse behind hit TV shows like Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, and F.I.R among others, expressed deep sorrow at the passing of industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata. Tata, who passed away at the age of 86, left behind an unparalleled legacy in both the business world and in humanitarian efforts.

In her heartfelt tribute, Binaiferr emphasized that Ratan Tata was more than just a business icon: “It’s not that people wanted him to live longer to do more for the business world; people wanted him around because of the kind, humane person he was.” She praised Tata for his contributions not only to his employees and the industries he shaped, but also to the city of Mumbai and the country at large.

She expressed her deep admiration for Tata’s humility and love for animals, particularly highlighting his role in opening a state-of-the-art animal hospital. “A man needs to have a gigantic heart to behave that way. He is an inspiration to billions, especially to me,” she shared.

Reflecting on her personal encounters with Tata, Kohli described how his humility and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. She recalled a memorable instance after the tragic 26/11 attacks, when Tata reopened the Taj Hotel with incredible resilience: “My brother Aftab Patel had booked Wasabi, and when we went to support the reopening, Mr. Tata personally welcomed and thanked us. It was such a great feeling—he made it all possible.”

Binaiferr also voiced her disappointment that Tata, like General Manekshaw, was not awarded the Bharat Ratna during his lifetime, despite his immense contributions to India. For Binaiferr Kohli, Tata’s legacy is not just one of business success, but of compassion, humility, and love for humanity. “He’s an inspiration to billions,” she concluded, reflecting the sentiment of a nation mourning the loss of one of its greatest leaders.
