MUMBAI: Hindi film stories have long been influenced by underworld dons. Whether it was Satya or D Company, we've often seen underworld themes in films. Recently, director-writer Karan Gulianii secured the rights to tell the life story of gangsters Sandeep, aka Kala Jathedi, and Anuradha Choudhary, aka Madam Minz. Speaking on this, Karan says, “Yes, I’ve secured the rights to portray the lives of two well- known figures—Kala Jathedi and Anuradha Chaudhary. What intrigued me is their love story amidst the backdrop of crime. It’s about two individuals who found love in a very unconventional environment and decided to get married despite unfavorable circumstances. The essence of the story is love.”
Karan shares that the writing process is already underway. He and his team are constantly in touch, discussing the direction of the script. "We are aiming to complete it in the next 6-7 months, by June or July of next year," he adds. He is currently in discussions with some big names in the industry to portray the characters of Kala and Anuradha.
For the uninitiated, Karan has directed two Punjabi films: Sarvann, starring Amrinder Gill and Ranjit Bawa, and Amritsar Chandigarh Amritsar, starring Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta. Sarvann was produced under Priyanka Chopra's banner. "Creating compelling content is always on my mind," says Karan.
