MUMBAI: Saanand Verma, a versatile actor known for his impeccable comic timing and standout roles in projects like Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain and Vijay 69 which was on top 10 list of Netflix, recently shared his candid thoughts on Mumbai’s elusive winters. While the city might lack a true winter season, Verma’s pragmatic approach to the season and his reflections on environmental consciousness struck a chord.
Keeping It Simple: Styling for Mumbai Winters
When it comes to winter fashion, Verma believes in keeping things minimal. “Styling tip is nothing,” he laughs. “Just buy some sweatshirts or maybe a pair of hoodies, and you’re ready to rock and roll. Winter in Mumbai is almost non-existent, so a comfortable hoodie with a T-shirt and cargo pants works perfectly for me. I love cargos,” he adds.
Admitting that he’s not much of a fashion enthusiast, Verma keeps his wardrobe functional and focused on comfort. “I hardly care about layering in Mumbai; it’s never on my mind.”
The Real Joys of Winter
For Verma, the essence of winter lies beyond clothing. He treasures simple pleasures like sipping tea with hot pakoras, especially when he’s shooting in colder regions like Uttarakhand. “I enjoy chai with pakoras, and I love the warmth of a bonfire, paired with tandoori chicken and the beauty of nature around me,” he shares.
He also relishes the slightly uncomfortable cool breezes during his outdoor shoots, a sensation he misses in Mumbai’s temperate climate. “Mumbai doesn’t really have winter; it’s just a cooler summer,” he quips. “Only a privileged few with ocean-view homes get to experience some cool breezes during the season.”
A Call for Environmental Action
Beyond reminiscing about winters, Verma highlights the pressing issue of global warming. “Climate change is real, and we must act responsibly. From adopting electric vehicles to carpooling and proper waste segregation, every small effort counts,” he emphasizes.
Verma also advocates for increasing greenery and avoiding deforestation. “We need more plantations and a collective consciousness to protect the environment. The goal is to create a better climate for future generations,” he concludes.
