MUMBAI: With every frame of Aap Iss Dhoop, Fatima Sana Shaikh is redefining what it means to be the new face of romance in contemporary Hindi cinema. The song, from Manish Malhotra’s much-anticipated production Gustaakh Ishq – Kucch Pehle Jaisa, has arrived as a tender breath of fresh air. It has left audiences falling in love not just with the melody but with Fatima herself.
In the song, Fatima embodies the wistful ache and nascent joy of romance. There’s a softness in her eyes, a lingering effect in her smile, and a vulnerability that makes the romance feel real.
Produced by Manish Malhotra’s Stage5 Production with Dinesh Malhotra, Gustaakh Ishq is his first step into film production. Directed by Vibhu Puri, the story moves through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi and the havelis of Punjab, which hold stories of love, longing and time standing still.
Aap Iss Dhoop follows the success of the first track, ‘Ul Jalool Ishq’, which introduced audiences to the film’s rich music with Vishal Bhardwaj’s composition, Gulzar’s evocative lyrics doing its magic.
Paired with Vijay Varma, Fatima finds an easy chemistry. They seem like two people who seem to understand silence as part of love.
