MUMBAI: Actress Harleen Reikhi, currently seen as Sudha Maami in Binddii on Colors TV, believes her fans are the true driving force behind her journey.
“I genuinely believe that the audience plays a crucial role in shaping an actor’s life. My fans, my well-wishers, and my close ones make me who I am. Their love and support keep me going,” says Harleen with a smile.
However, she admits that fame also brings a certain pressure. “You develop a sense of responsibility towards your work and your growth, but that pressure also keeps me motivated. It pushes me beyond my comfort zone,” she adds.
Recalling some of her most emotional fan moments, Harleen shares, “During my stage play Hamare Ram, where I played Sita Mata, an elderly couple came up to me and touched my feet, offering me chadhava. It was overwhelming. And once at Varanasi airport, a little girl recognized me instantly, even though I wasn’t in costume. That kind of love is truly a blessing.”
Talking about the changing fan culture, she says, “Selfies have replaced autographs, but I still value both. A selfie goes online, while an autograph lives on forever. Fans make us who we are, and we must always respect that.”
Harleen is known to acknowledge fans’ efforts personally — resharing fan edits, sketches, and reels. “I try to maintain a personal connection while respecting my own space. Mutual respect keeps the balance intact.”
