MUMBAI: The Indian Idol 16 stage witnessed one of its most heartwarming and entertaining moments this week, all thanks to contestant Manraj Veer and judge Badshah, whose spontaneous gesture turned a powerful performance into a memory Manraj will cherish forever.
Manraj delivered a high-energy rendition of ‘Ruk Ja O Dil Deewaane,’ a performance so impactful that the judges called it nothing short of a ‘speaker-phod moment.’ Manraj Veer shared that even his ex-army grandfather couldn’t contain his pride, hugging him tightly after the audition and even taking him shopping because Manraj loves clothes.
What followed on stage was a mix of fun, flair, and emotion and the true highlight. In a light moment, Manraj cheekily showed off his expensive wallet, joking about how he recently bought something pricey. Badshah joined in the banter, opened his own wallet on stage and handed him money as a special ‘shagun’, blessing him and acknowledging his star quality. Vishal immediately chimed in with a laugh, saying, “The ₹500 would go toward repairing the speaker Manraj just broke with his performance”
Shreya Ghoshal praised him for giving the classic song a unique Manraj flavour, adding that his hero-like voice could easily fit into films. Badshah too reaffirmed his belief, saying Manraj, along with fellow contestant Anshika, has a star voice, not a background-singer voice.
Urmila Matondkar added her own warmth to the moment, applauding him for giving the beloved song a fresh taste and even saying he reminded her of Kishore Da. She was so impressed that she expressed her wish to post his performance on her social media and take a selfie with him.
With emotion, fun, nostalgia, and a rare gesture of blessing from Badshah, the episode promises to be one of the most memorable ones this season.
