MUMBAI: Actor Vicky Kaushal recently opened up about his first-ever meeting with wife Katrina Kaif, revealing that it didn’t happen where most people think it did.
Contrary to popular belief that their first meeting took place on Koffee With Karan, the Sam Bahadur actor clarified that he actually met Katrina much earlier — at an award function.
Speaking on the show Two Good Moments with Pinkvilla, Vicky laughed off the long-standing myth surrounding his and Katrina’s love story. “Everyone thinks our first meeting happened on Koffee With Karan, but that’s not true.
We had actually met at an awards show before that. It was just a brief exchange, but yes — that was technically our first meeting,” he shared.
The actor went on to say that the Koffee With Karan episode only became iconic because fans loved their on-screen chemistry.
“That was the first time people saw us interacting publicly, and it took off from there. But our real first meeting was a simple, quiet one — no cameras, no coffee, just a hello and a smile,” Vicky added with a grin.
When asked about how their relationship blossomed afterwards, the Uri star said that destiny had a role to play. “You can’t plan something like this. Life just brings two people together at the right time,” he remarked, praising Katrina as someone who brings “calm, balance, and joy” into his life.
The actor also shared that the two continue to support each other’s professional commitments while maintaining a grounded relationship away from the glamour of showbiz.
“We’re both quite private people. We love doing normal things — watching movies at home, cooking, and just being with family,” he said.
Vicky and Katrina tied the knot in December 2021 in a dreamy, intimate wedding in Rajasthan that captivated fans and media alike.
The couple, fondly known as ‘VicKat’, have since become one of the most admired celebrity pairs in Indian cinema, often praised for their humility and genuine affection.
With Vicky currently promoting Sam Bahadur and Katrina basking in the success of Tiger 3, the couple continues to make headlines not just for their professional accomplishments but also for their heartwarming love story that fans can’t get enough of.
