MUMBAI: Actor Sidharth Banerjee, known for his roles in Ikkyavan, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and Punyashlok Ahilyabai, recently made his Bollywood debut with Controll by Pen Studios. In an exclusive conversation, he spoke about the exposure television gave him, the rise of vertical content, and what lies ahead for him.
Reflecting on his journey and the possibility of returning to TV, he exclusively told TellyChakkar, “TV is where my training began, especially since I don’t come from a theatre background. Working on shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Punyashlok Ahilyabai, where I was surrounded and guided by veteran actors, prepared me for films and for producing my own content. I do manifest returning to TV someday as a producer too,” he added with a smile.
Sidharth also revealed, “My next vertical series on Instagram is releasing this month on my channel. It features Sandiip Sickand, Reecha Sinha, and Jinal Joshi in pivotal roles.”
Sharing his perspective on the growing popularity of vertical content, he said, “Vertical series are definitely the 2025 way of storytelling, now that audiences are open to consuming deeper, longer content. We started with 5–10 second dancing reels and dubsmashes, but now reels can stretch up to three minutes. My first vertical series, Chhal, crossed 150 million views on Instagram this year.”
He further explained, “Technically, vertical formats offer a cost-friendly production model where creators like me can produce their own series. It gives you the freedom to explore your talents, and the ability to release your work directly on Instagram helps you build your own audience — which is incredibly empowering.”
