MUMBAI: Sayantani Ghosh has finally spoken up after a wave of pregnancy rumours swept across social media, leaving fans curious and many convinced that the actress was expecting her first child.
The speculation began when a few of her recent pictures from public appearances went viral, with users claiming they noticed what they believed to be a baby bump.
As the conversation intensified, several fan pages even started congratulating her, prompting Sayantani to address the matter directly.
Setting the record straight, the actress firmly stated, “I am not pregnant.” She explained that assumptions were made purely based on how she looked in a particular outfit.
Sayantani shared that she finds it “strange and unfair” that women are instantly subjected to judgment regarding motherhood, weight, and appearance.
“Sometimes we wear something that is not perfectly fitted, sometimes the angle of a picture is odd, and suddenly people decide you are pregnant,” she said. She emphasised that such unsolicited conclusions can be emotionally exhausting, especially for women in the public eye.

Sayantani elaborated on how easily narratives are created online, saying, “We live in a time where a single photo is enough for people to jump to conclusions. It does not matter whether the information is true or false; if it fits their imagination, it spreads.”
She admitted that although she has grown used to public scrutiny due to her long television career, there are moments when the constant invasion of privacy feels overwhelming.
The actress also spoke about the pressure married women face, especially in Indian society, where questions around pregnancy seem to follow immediately after marriage.
She noted, “Every woman has her own journey. Pregnancy is a deeply personal decision. People must stop assuming, stop asking, and stop creating stories. It is insensitive.”
Sayantani, who has been balancing her personal life and professional commitments with grace, added that she is currently focused on her work and embracing life at her own pace.
While she understands fan curiosity, she hopes people will be more mindful moving forward. “If there is good news, I will share it myself.
Until then, let me live my life without constant assumptions,” she said with a smile.
Her response has been met with appreciation from fans who applauded her honesty and the strong message she delivered regarding body-shaming, societal expectations, and the importance of respecting personal boundaries.
