MUMBAI: The grand trailer launch of Aditya Dhar’s much-awaited action drama Dhurandhar turned into a memorable fan moment when Ranveer Singh recreated one of Sanjay Dutt’s dialogues from the film, sending the audience into loud cheers.
Held on November 18 at the NMACC in Mumbai, the event was attended by Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and young star Sara Arjun. As expected, Ranveer stole the spotlight with his energy, humour, and heartfelt tribute to Sanjay Dutt.
A viral video from the event captured Ranveer expressing his admiration for Sanjay Dutt, someone he has idolised since childhood.
He said, “It’s a massive deal for me to be in a movie with Sanjay Dutt. He has been one of my screen idols since childhood, one of the major motion picture heroes from the 90s. Copied his style and watched all his movies from a young age.
And now to be in a movie with him is extremely special.” Ranveer shared how Dutt shaped his early fascination with cinema, from style to swag.

Noticing Ranveer’s nostalgia, director Aditya Dhar cheekily urged him to mimic Sanjay Dutt’s iconic style.
Ranveer initially hesitated and joked that the clip would go viral, but seconds later, he perfectly delivered the dialogue with Dutt’s trademark cadence and intensity. The hall erupted instantly, proving Ranveer’s impression hit the mark.
Although Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna play key roles in Dhurandhar, they were unable to attend the trailer launch.
Arjun Rampal explained, “Sanjay sir and Akshaye couldn’t be here today as they didn’t get their visas on time. They were really looking forward to joining us for the launch, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out.”
In the film, Sanjay Dutt plays S.P. Chaudhary Aslam, a dark, complex, and deeply intense character who adds significant weight to the film’s gritty world. His presence, even in the trailer, hints at a menacing and unforgettable performance.
Ranveer Singh also shared his character poster earlier in the day, introducing himself as the “Wrath of God.” Speaking passionately about the project, he said, “We wanted to create a feature presentation that’s at par with any film in the world.
Our attempt was to level up in every aspect of the cinematic process to create a film that we as Indians can be proud of. It’s raw, it’s gritty, and it is unapologetically Indian. Aditya has pitched it perfectly.”
With a massive scale, a powerhouse cast, and Aditya Dhar at the helm, Dhurandhar is gearing up to be one of Indian cinema’s biggest releases next year. The film opens in theatres on December 5, 2025.
