From “easy energy” with Kriti Sanon to “priceless quiet moments” with Dhanush — Paramvir Singh Cheema reflects on his dream debut with Anand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein

MUMBAI: Before making his mark on the big screen, Paramvir Singh Cheema had already carved a strong space for himself on OTT. His breakout as Shivraj Singh Mangat in Black Warrant — one of 2025’s biggest streaming successes — brought him instant acclaim for his intense, layered portrayal of a cop navigating the complexities of Tihar Jail. He had also impressed audiences in SonyLIV’s Chamak, where he played Kaala, a rapper returning to Punjab to uncover the truth behind his father Taara Singh’s death. These roles cemented him as a rising talent long before his theatrical debut.

That debut on the big screen finally arrived with Tere Ishk Mein, where Paramvir stepped into the role of Jasjeet — a performance marked by quiet intensity, emotional depth, and an ease that made audiences instantly connect with him. Working alongside two of the film’s biggest stars, Kriti Sanon and Dhanush, became a defining experience.

Speaking about working with Kriti, he says, "To work with Kriti was very easy and the energy flow was so good. She is very humble and very much committed to her craft. A co-actor everyone wishes to work with. I wish to work more with her." His admiration for her sincerity and craft reflected the effortless onscreen chemistry that audiences felt between them.

On collaborating with Dhanush, Paramvir shares, "Dhanush Bhai is very calm and peaceful. Gives so much respect and enjoys his personal space as I do. We used to sit together quietly without even talking to each other sometimes and those moments are priceless. To watch him perform was breathtaking. Looking forward to work with him in future - maybe under his direction." For a debutant, forging such meaningful artistic connections is rare — and their impact clearly stayed with him.

But what truly underscores his arrival is the praise coming from filmmaker Aanand L Rai, who was deeply impressed by the newcomer’s maturity and craft. As he puts it, “Paramveer’s a very secure actor and an honest performer. He understands exactly what a story needs and knows how to contribute to it. I look forward to working with him again soon.”

From standout streaming performances to a memorable big-screen debut, Paramvir Singh Cheema’s journey is gathering remarkable momentum. And with a packed slate ahead — Border 2, the thriller Pyramid, and Pitt Siyapa opposite Sonam Bajwa — it’s clear that a debut this strong is only the beginning. The rise continues, and it only gets bigger from here.
