MUMBAI: Akshaye Khanna does it again! Dhurandhar is out in the theatres, and Akshaye Khanna makes quite an impression as Rehman Balouch, from the start itself. Known for his unmatched versatility and the drive to always set the bar high, Akshaye brings in the menace as Rehman Dakait without making it look superficial or manufactured even for a minute. His admirable grip on his role not only works for him, but for the film entirely, fusing the spy actioner with a strange emotional gravity.
His character arc gets better with time, and not once does he make the viewers feel that he’s out of place - and that’s exactly what shows his range to disappear behind the character. His expressions, timing, pauses and the ability to speak more with cold stares make Rehman Dakait a cannon fire, and you trust Khanna to pull off such an unconventional role of a villain, whose mind is a razor-sharp weapon!
Watching Khanna standing at the centre of this intriguing battlefield feels strangely poetic for the genre, especially because he has lived through enough intense cinematic eras to make Rehman Dakait real, believable and absolutely raw! With a screen presence that’s wild and strangely beautiful, Akshaye Khanna builds tension that refuses to release you till the very end, making for a big bonus that adds to the experience of witnessing the menace of Rehman Dakait!
Presented by Jio Studios, a B62 Studios production, Dhurandhar is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. It brings together Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and debutant Sara Arjun. The film explores the untold origins of unknown men, and it has begun packing a punch in theatres!
