MUMBAI: Television’s much-loved couple, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, have been navigating one of the most difficult chapters of their lives as the actress bravely fought Stage 2 liver cancer.
A few months ago, Dipika publicly revealed her diagnosis, thanking her fans for their unwavering love and support as she underwent treatment. Her resilience, positivity and unshakeable faith have inspired countless admirers across the country.

The couple recently appeared on Rashami Desai’s podcast, where they opened up about Dipika’s battle and the emotional turmoil they faced during her treatment. Shoaib recalled the day of her major surgery and said,
“When Dipika was taken into the operation theatre, the doctors told me it would take 14–15 hours. I felt no fear and I didn’t cry; I was simply praying and trying to stay strong for her.”
However, as the surgery exceeded the expected duration, he admitted that panic slowly crept in.
Sharing one of the most distressing moments of the ordeal, he revealed,
“The doctor later informed me that Dipika had been under anaesthesia for too long and, for safety, they might need to put her on a ventilator. I was terrified, but I told them to do whatever was necessary. That fear and helplessness is something I cannot describe.”
Thankfully, the situation stabilised.
“When I finally met her, she was regaining consciousness and they didn’t have to put her on the ventilator. She bounced back with incredible strength. Today, I can proudly say she is cancer-free, although a few treatments are still ongoing. I am so proud of how she fought this battle,” Shoaib added with gratitude.
Despite the uncertainty and emotional strain, Dipika has shown commendable courage and determination throughout her recovery, supported by an outpouring of prayers and love from fans, friends and the television fraternity.
As one of television’s most adored couples, Dipika and Shoaib continue to serve major relationship goals, standing by each other with grace, strength and unwavering faith.
