A few days ago we had reported that J P Dutta was in plans to make a sequel of his 1997 film Border.
In a further development, Dutta has also roped in Suniel Shetty to play a significant role in the new film titled Border 2. Averred Dutta, "I can't think of making a film without Suniel. We share a great comfort level."
In between trade circles was abuzz with rumours that the director might repeat the cast of the 1997 hit film. That indicated the return of Akshaye Khanna in the yet-to-be-launched film. "I thought of casting Akshaye, but then I realised that I wouldn't have a role which would justify his talent," Dutta claimed.
The director, who had in his early days assisted Raj Kapoor, is also mulling with the idea of making a film on the Battle of Shakargarh as he felt that the story needed to be told on celluloid. Fought between 4 December and 16 December, 1971, this was one of the vital battles fought as part of the Indo-Pak war.
Dutta is confident of repeating the box office success of Border with this film and says that he will keep the length of ‘Border 2’ shorter. Dutta did not reveal much about the role of the actors but informed that Sunny will not be seen in his much-loved Sikh avatar.
