Vh1 celebrates India's musical diversity this Independence Day

Vh1
India is known as a melting pot of cultural diversity. The striking difference manifests itself in not only the culture and lifestyle of people but also in the music produced across the country. From Indie Pop, Rock & Hip Hop, India has seamlessly moved towards Jazz and Fusion musicians as well. The origin of Rock music in India can be credited to international artists like The Beatles, who brought their music here and collaborated with renowned musicians like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Late Pt. Ravi Shankar which also led to the development of Raga Rock. While Baba Sehgal will be always be known as the first desi rapper for Indians, London based The Rishi Rich Project, Bally Sagoo and Canadian based Raghav will be recognised as the pioneers in Hip Hop/RnB music. This Independence Day, Vh1 Indian Musical Compass celebrates the ultimate in music from the legends who have stretched the boundaries of music to fuse together various elements of Indian music, language and culture. The special episode will feature artists across India representing various regions – Pentagram, Indus Creed, Scribe, Lost Stories, Gods Robots, Kunala, etc depict the West of India, Alobo Naga and the Band, Soulmate, Divine Connection, etc. represent North East. Euphoria, Ska Vengers, Them Clones, etc. will signify the North of India, A R Rahman, Thermal and a Quarter, Brodha V, etc. will stand for South India and Bickram Gosh, Cassini’s Division, and many more will bring out the Eastern part of India. So this Independence Day, Karbonn Smart Titanium Series presents Vh1 Indian Musical Compass which brings together artists who are divided by states but united by music exclusively on 15 August, 2013 at 8am and 8pm only on Vh1.
