Rakesh Paul is currently going through an uneasy phase. The actor had a tough time while enacting a scene in Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki where he had to rob idols of deities. He was reluctant to do this scene and once he completed it, strange things started to occur. A guilt laden Rakesh says, “When I was briefed of the script, I said no to it. I even told my mother about it and she too wasn’t keen on me doing it. However, as an actor I had a job to do and I reluctantly gave in. Prior to enacting the scene, I fell off my chair which astonishingly split into two. Perhaps, the divine forces were intervening so as to stop this scene from being canned.” Adding further, he says, “We’d created a thunderous setting by usage of fans to project a storm. However, my bag got lost which contained the shirt which I was to wear for that particular shot. It was too short a time to arrange for a replacement so we had to cancel the shoot.” As per the script, Rakesh along with his mother and sister sell off idols of Ram, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman. Later on they realise their mistake and bring back the idols to the temple. Unfortunately, there has been a delay in shooting this scene which is making Rakesh feel all the more uncomfortable. “We were supposed to shoot this scene where we bring back the idols but we still haven’t been able to shoot for it. Once while driving on my way back home, I tuned into Hey Ram, Hey Ram ghazal by Jagjit Singh which lasted for 24 minutes. I wondered why this song wasn’t ending. It once again made me feel guilty and even eerie. I’ve been chanting Hanuman chalisa, every Saturday seeking the Lord’s forgiveness. I want this ordeal to come to an end soon,” says Rakesh apologetically. After this experience the actor has vowed never to enact such a scene. Well, one wouldn’t fault him for this. All we can say is that actors better beware when you’re stealing idols.
