Konkana Sen Sharma, Sakshi Tanwar approached for film on sex workers

In a decision of sorts, the makers of Kamathipura that delves on the life of sex workers, have planned to rope in actress Konkana Sen Sharma to play the lead in the film, according to director Ankush Bhatt. Besides, they have also roped in Sakshi Tanwar to star in the project.The film will have a huge ensemble cast. Primarily talking of filmmaker Aparna Sen’s daughter Ankush said, "The character that we are looking for will require to be shown between 18 to 60 years of age. Hence we are looking for someone who can play this part well. We had approached Konkana for this film knowing it nicely that she could play a sex worker. But she wasn't comfortable doing it. We are trying to convince her...I don't know if she will finally agree or not." Confirming that they have roped in Sakshi, Ankush averred, "We have Sakshi who will play the second lead." Is the film solely about prostitution? “No, the film is not entirely about prostitution. We will show what they do in day time for their living. The film will also throw light on human trafficking. We are not glorifying prostitution. We will show a different side of them in the film that hasn’t been explored by anyone before this. Importantly, the film is about the emotional turmoil that they go through," the director informed. Once the cast is in place, the film will go on floors in a couple of months.
