The court has just given its verdict on the Nirbahaya gang rape cae. All four have been given death penalty. Today Tellychakkar.com talked to Siddhartha Jain of iRock Films who has made a sensitive film on the subject titled Kill the Rapist directed by Sanjay Chel.
Not going by the real happenings, the story of Siddhartha’s film is of a young woman in New Delhi who overpowers and traps a man after he breaks into her house and attempts to rape her.
The plot of the thriller that aims to not only embolden Indian women to report rapes, but also deter potential rapists by making them shiver with fear before even thinking of rape, says its Facebook page.
But, what made Siddhartha touch the sensitive subject? “I wanted to amplify the debate on the topic of rape. When the 16 December incident happened, for the first time I woke up to this burning issue in our country. It really got to me and struck a chord.
“To vent my anger I started a group on Facebook called Kill the Rapist. And then it got me thinking as a film person; I thought the best way I could do something was to make a film, not based on the 16 December incident, but a film that puts pressure on everybody including law enforcers to find a solution to this problem.”
Talking of the content, Siddhartha said that his film has a very sensitive, inspiring and motivating film for the women folk. “Nor is the film based on the Delhi incident and neither sensational or scandalous. It’s a fictional 90 minute engaging thriller-drama that has three girls and a man.”
The 90-minute film is to open all over India on 13 December (2013).
