I am dating myself - Karan Wahi

Karan Wahi
Television’s heart-throb Karan Wahi, who is best known for essaying the role of Ranveer Shishodhia from the popular teenage show Remix (Star One) and who went on to win many hearts playing the handsome Dr. Siddhant Modi in Dill Mill Gayye, is enjoying the phase wherein he has had a series of experiences hosting reality shows. The talented and versatile actor gets into an interview with Tellychakkar.com speaking about his aspirations and experiences… You have been a part of Remix, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Jhalak Dikhkla Jaa 5… which is that one show you will always keep close to your heart? For any actor, the first show will always be close to the heart. I rose to fame through Remix (Star One), so that show is obviously close to my heart. When you started your career as an actor, what inclined you towards hosting? Well, if an actor wants to avoid doing fiction shows and yet be a part of the industry, hosting is a very good platform. So why aren’t you acting in shows? It is not that I don’t want to act in shows. I was offered roles but I was not satisfied enough about them. I want to venture out more and not be bound by any fiction show. I want to try out acting, hosting, films and a 50 more things. Furthermore, I am also keen on doing certain films. It is not that I am not open to anything, but I am trying to do something which is more meaningful and practical. There have been a lot of shows which are women-centric. So do you feel that male actors are getting left out in the league? Yes, I agree that there are more women-centric fiction shows these days, but eventually as an actor, it all depends on how big you make it through that. It does not affect me, but yes I do feel that there should be a change in the format of shows. Acting or hosting? What do you enjoy most? Both. Do you think that reality shows are as good as drama and there is nothing real in it? Look, there are moments and instances which can be created, but I do not think the entire show can be scripted. I myself have been a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. If the contestants perform badly, one can help and push a little but I feel the bad performers will invariably get eliminated and the good performers will win. It is a cohesive effort of the unit. Even as a host on reality shows I do not know who the winner is till it is announced. Moreover, I would like to state that in reality shows, contestants can give you some masala and an anchor has to drive the show. It is not easy being an anchor as one has to be humorous and at the same time not make it look like a slapstick comedy. So to answer your question, I do not think reality shows are scripted. Talking about your personal life, are you dating someone currently? Anyone special? Yes, I am dating myself. (laughs) Message for fans… I would like to thank them and request them to relax, thand rakho…I am not running away anywhere, and they will soon see me acting.
