Sony Entertainment Television’s highly popular crime show, Crime Patrol (Optimystix) which now airs tri weekly ( Fri- Sunday) at the 11 pm slot will now air twice a week. This schedule change will come into effect from this weekend with Bhoot Aaya taking the Sunday 11 pm slot. The same was confirmed by Aloka Guha, VP & Head – Non-Fiction Programming, Sony Entertainment Television. “We will air this new horror show for the next six months.” She justified making the hit Anoop Soni anchored show bi weekly saying, “11 pm slot has been good for us with Crime Patrol which showcased real life crime cases now we are simply adding real life horror stories, so the connect should remain the same,” said Guha.
Talking about Crime Patrol Aloka says, “This cult show worked for it is an honest effort. People identify with the episodes for it tells real life stories highlighting wrong things which happen in our everyday life. It has created a lot of awareness about crime. People are worried about the safety of their aged parents given the rise in crime against senior citizens. The story is also told in a very smooth manner. It does create awareness, but in an entertaining manner, the suspense element is kept alive throughout.”
When asked to comment on the Delhi rape case story, which the channel deferred on govt’s request, Aloka said, “It was reflective of the popularity and the reach of the show. However, we rather feel that the episode was eventually aired at the correct time when the judgement came, for we had a full story (conviction of the accused). A lot of people tuned into that episode for that horrible incident had stirred the nation’s consciousness.”
