Film and Television Producers Guild signs 2-year MoU with Spain based Casa de la India Foundation

The Film and Television Producers Guild of India (FTPGI) has entered into a two-year understanding with Casa de la India Foundation, Spain essentially to share ideas and practices to promote domestic and international film production and promotion. Furthermore, they plan to boost mutual understanding of each other’s film production markets and boost bilateral cultural understanding to enable seamless and cost effective use of local services and facilities with regard to securing agreements to films across the concerned agencies and authorities in the two countries and agencies in the respective countries including organisation and government authorities. With regards to the same a MoU between both the organisations was signed recently during the visit of the Spanish delegation led by the director of the Spanish Film Institute ICAA (Ministry of Culture) Susana de la Sierra along with Guillermo Rodríguez Martín, Director - Casa de la India Foundation Commenting on the memorandum, Guillermo Rodríguez Martín, Director - Casa de la India Foundation in Spain said that the same was the result of a series of contacts and exchanges between Casa de la India and the Guild that were initiated in 2006 in Mumbai with the help of filmmakers Shyam Benegal and Govind Nihalani, two connoisseurs of Spanish culture. The talks between the two organizations reached its peak in May and July this year with the institutional visits to Spain by Mukesh Bhatt, president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India and CEO Kulmeet Makkar to experience firsthand the potential of working with the Spanish film industry. On this occasion Bhatt said, “This understanding between two organisations which represent the entertainment elite of Spain and India respectively will not only lay the stepping stone for enhanced bilateral relationship in the field of entertainment, art & culture but also promote healthy cross border exchange of the film industry wizards from both countries.” On his part Makkar added that such a confluence of the brightest minds from the culture and entertainment space from Spain and India was the need of the hour particularly in light of the growing significance of Indian filmmakers and their creations in major European film festivals and the overall global film market and will undoubtedly facilitate exchange between the veterans & young minds from the entertainment industries of both countries. Casa De La India was constituted as a foundation in Valladolid, Spain in early 2003 with the Indian Embassy in Spain, Valladolid City Council and University of Valladolid as its founding entities and patrons.
