With an aim to spread his works across the globe, Tej, son of music legend Bhupen Hazarika has announced the formation of a new body in memory of his father.
"Our main objective is to internationalise Bhupen Hazarika. His works have great relevance even today. We will translate and spread his creations," Tej said in a statement.
The newly formed body named Dr Bhupen Hazarika Foundation has in all 21 members from different walks of life that include siblings and relatives of the music maestro.
Headquartered in Guwahati, the Foundation's first work will be to publicise the Assamese translation of an English book on the music composer, edited by his son.
Trying to distance his Foundation from another trust formed by the singer's longtime associate Kalpana Lazmi, Tej observed, "Ours is a transparent organisation. It is not a business shell. All the wealth created by the foundation will go to promote the work of my father."
Tej also revealed that ‘Demystifying Dr Bhupen Hazarika: Envisioning Education for India’, a book based on his father's academic pursuits, is being translated into Assamese and it will hit the stands soon.
The 230-page special edition book in trade paperback was released in the US on 8 September.
