Kangana Ranaut talks about her "Krrish 3" experience

Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut who plays a mutant supergirl in Krrish 3 is quite gung-ho about her role in this Rakesh Roshan directed sci-fi flick. “It was quite physically taxing to enact the role for it needed to add layers which were not human hence the game went into the unreal space i.e. raw action. Our stunt directors came from China and their style of on-screen fighting was different. They gave us quite tough scenes to perform including several ones on cable wires.” “All in all I had to learn a lot however here I wish to clarify that some of the stuff you will see me perform in this film is not something what you can learn in a couple of months. I have been practicing lifts, somersaults and back lifts since I was 17 or 18 year old. You must have also seen me doing action in the Kites song. The fact that my kicks can go so high is because of years of practice; this would have not possible in a short period of time. You need a year’s time just to get your stretching right,” she adds. Since this is the first time that a woman will be performing action on desi screen, are you a bit scared? “This has been happening in the west with Catwoman and Tomb Raider etc. I am hopeful that the audience will like my action for it is something fresh. My scenes have also come out very good, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.” And from the initial response, her work has been appreciated. Furthermore, she also has no fears that playing a negative avatar might harm her conventional heroine image, “I always want to push the envelope and do different types of roles. It is a well known fact that I left The Dirty Picture as I did not want to continue with the neurotic woman image (Fashion and Woh Lamhe). Also I feel that a negative role is more remembered than lead roles which are easier to get. Having said that I wish to inform you that my character is not totally black in Krrish 3 as there is much more to it as well.” She also maintains her role was first offered to her but she could not take it up then as she was busy with other assignments. Then it went to Deepika Padukone and others. “But films are like destiny, what is yours always comes back sooner or later.” She would not call this role as her dream role for “over the years like everybody else she too has had several dream roles in mind i.e. playing Anarkali, Tomb Raider avatar or something along the lines of what Smita Patil got to do in Mirch Masala.” We wish Kangana all the luck and happiness!!!
