Anita Hassanandani
The beautiful Anita Hassanandani is back on the small screen after a brief sabbatical. Last seen tackling her fears in Khatron ke khiladi the actress has returned to woo audiences in an avatar not seen before. She is hosting Comedy ka jadoo on Sony. In a free wheeling chat the actress spoke on various issues like career, Comedy ka jadoo, Balaji, personal life and lots more. Excerpts from the interview. You have been the small screen’s success story. From commercials to soaps to films. What are your thoughts as you look back? It feels great when I recollect those days. Kkavyanjali still remains an immortal part of my life. I have learnt a lot at every step of my life. I have improved a great extent since that time. Be it acting, dressing, eloquence and a lot more. I have done a variety of roles, so it feels amazing. Your recent release Benny and Babloo didn’t do well at the box office. Any regrets? The audience may have not liked it but I have got good reviews for the film. In fact I have learnt a lot from it. It may have tanked at the box office but I am okay. This goes on. What made you accept Comedy Ka Jadoo? I wanted a break from soaps, so I thought of experimenting with hosting this time. It’s an altogether different experience as it is for the first time that I have hosted a show. It’s fun to host a show like this, where I got to learn a lot of things from the popular stand-up comedians, especially the art of spontaneity. Also my speech changed with time. I can experiment a lot with my look unlike in daily-soaps where your look often remains unchanged. TV actors generally enjoy a short shelf-life. Does this fact worry you? No actor has a shelf-life. It totally depends upon the actor how he travels his journey of life and how he maintains stability. I think I am a very secure person. After my Balaji shows I have never stayed home. I have kept on doing other roles too. Kkavyanjali’s fame that I enjoyed was by far the biggest of all TV shows and this still remains with me. It is buzzed that you have had a fall-out with Balaji? It’s nothing as such. I can still get into the groove whenever I wish. It’s just that the kind of films and shows Ekta’s making now should have a role suitable for me. I still will be given first preference the only clause being that the role should suit my image. Considering that you have been an integral part of TV serials in your opinion what is it about them that needs to improve? I think it’s the concept which plays an important role in the success of any show. So the storylines should be unique and not similar to any other show. Also they should stick to the main theme of the show till the end. Any sudden change in the track which deviates from its theme should be avoided. The script of any show should be clear. It should not be influenced by external factors and should not be stretched. After your break-off with Eijaz Khan, are you dating anybody? No I am not dating anyone currently. Is marriage on the cards? As for now I have no plans of getting married.
